Thank you for this. I am new on Substack and have no idea how your writing popped up on my feed, but it feels so supportive as I am on a very similar path. I love that you publish with the moon. I too release a podcast episode on the full and new moons. Best wishes and gratitude for you and your writing!
Happy New Year, Maia. Thank you for sharing your reflections from 2024 and insights for moving forward in 2025. I'm moved by how much friendships have played a role in your life in 2024 and its intersection with writing. I appreciate the rekindling of our connection via Substack. Your insights have got me thinking deeply! congratulations on your Substack success. Wishing you the best for your writing intensive in January!
Happy New Year! I like this idea of a word for the year. I think an intention is far better than a resolution. You have "Walk toward the Light." Don Boivin has "Equanimity." I have been drawn for several years to "Be the change (you want to see in the world)." Maybe I will take this as my word for the year, or maybe something else will arise. Thank you for your presence here on Substack.
Thank you, dear Maia. I love being friends with you and so much look forward to meeting you in person. I was thinking about you while spending some time one state over, and told a bit of your story (the subject of your memoir) to my sister-in-law. She is going through some changes and losses in her life right now. I sent her a link to your Substack.
Be well, Happy New Year, may you continue to reflect and rest and write!
Thank you for the connection with your sister-in-law, Don. I look forward to 'meeting' her. And I hope your time in saguaro and javelina land was deeply nourishing.
That long plane ride will be the perfect opportunity to dive into those questions, John! It’s been fun to see your photos and words on your New Zealand trip… what an adventure!
Maia, it has been so wonderful to get to know more about you (and New Mexico!) this year. I agree the times ahead look challenging at best. voices like yours that remind us to walk toward the light, keep the faith, and hold oneself with compassion will be ever needed. Thank you for modeling kindness and I’m sorry to hear about the end-of-year food poisoning!!! sending you virtual electrolytes now, and you and Lucy much metta through 2025. 🩵🩵
Thank you, Logan! I really enjoyed the time together with you a few weeks back to participate in the gaming experience. Appreciating your gentle and wise way of holding space for folks, and looking forward to getting to know you better in the year to come.
This truly speaks to my heart, Maia. I appreciate your willingness to go through the process in real-time in the post so we can experience it ourselves.
The “season” seems to begin at the end of October and run through the new year. The veils between worlds seem the most permeable at cross-quarter times. Maybe one day we can have a conversation around this, Maia. I bet we have a lot to share.
I love that practice, Paulette! Thank you for sharing it here, and I am glad that you included a link to it. The only time I have a problem with links is when someone I've had no prior connection with swoops in and leaves links in a self-promotional way. Often with little or nothing to do with what I've written. What you've shared here adds to the richness.
Thank you Maia! So many of your reflections from this past year resonate strongly with me. Which is no surprise actually. You are such a genuine and kind-hearted person; I’m grateful to have found you here and that we have cultivated this friendship. 🙏🏼

Great to meet you here, Sabine! Thank you for leaving a comment, and I'll look forward to checking out your offerings as well.
Grateful for the connection (:

Always grateful for the heart to heart connection, Paulette! Do you have a ritual that you do for this time of year?
I do. And they vary, though I wrote about one of my favorites in a recent post. https://paulettebodeman.substack.com/p/bhavanas-gift-64e. I hope it’s OK that I link to it here.
